Farmington/Farmington Hills – Major Road Projects (July 23rd Update)

10 Mile Road (Between Farmington Road and Orchard Lake Road)
This project is well underway and the base layer of pavement has been installed. The installation of a new traffic signal at the Power Road intersection is ongoing as well as restoration throughout the entire project limits. 10 Mile Road will be closed to through traffic but local traffic will be maintained to accommodate access to properties within the job limits. This project is on schedule to be substantially complete and open to traffic by Labor Day.

Farmington Road (Between 10 Mile Road and 12 Mile Road)
This project is underway and includes the reconstruction and resurfacing of the pavement, installation of a sidewalk on the east side of Farmington Road from Ridgewood north to 11 Mile, and the installation of water main and sanitary sewer in several locations that currently do not have these utilities. Farmington Road will be closed to through traffic, local traffic will be maintained in a one-way southbound direction only to accommodate access to properties within the job limits as well as Heritage Park. A detour route is posted to direct motorists around the project. This project is scheduled to be substantially complete and open to traffic by Labor Day.

CITY LOCAL ROAD PROJECTS
Lakehills Drive
This project is substantially complete and will not be included in future road construction updates.

Westhill Street
This project is substantially complete and will not be included in future road construction updates.

Middlebelt Road, between Northwestern Highway and 14 Mile Road
This project entails installation of a right turn lane on northbound Middlebelt Road near Hillel Day School. Middlebelt will remain open to two-way traffic but construction will require lane closures as well as flagging operations as necessary.

14 Mile Road at the east side of Northwestern Highway
14 Mile Road will be closed at the east side of the intersection with Northwestern Highway starting August 4. This RCOC project includes reconstruction and realignment of the east leg of the intersection and is the first phase of the larger 14 Mile/Orchard Lake/Northwestern Highway “triangle” project. The detour route for through traffic will be Middlebelt Road to Northwestern Highway and back to 14 Mile and vice versa.
